Bush resetting is stepping into a lane bush right after you hit an enemy champion, so the minions that picked you as a target lose sight of you and go back to the wave. You keep the damage you dealt and avoid the minion hits that would normally follow.
What it is
When you damage an enemy champion with an auto-attack or most targeted abilities, nearby enemy minions get a call for help and start hitting you. That is the aggro icon, three short lines above a minion's health bar. Minions that have chosen a target keep attacking it until a higher priority target appears or they lose sight of it.
A bush breaks that line of sight. Units in a bush are hidden from enemies and count as being in the fog of war until something grants sight over the area. When a minion loses sight of its target, it picks a new target or keeps marching, so a minion that was hitting you stops. This is the whole mechanic: hit, step into the bush, wait for the icon to vanish.
It has limits. Minions only re-check their target every so often, so the aggro does not drop on the instant you enter. Attacking or casting a targeted ability from inside the bush reveals a circle around you for a couple of seconds, and a ward or an enemy walking in reveals you immediately.
How to do it
- Know what draws aggro
Auto-attacking an enemy champion, or hitting them with most targeted abilities, draws enemy minions onto you if they are in range. Standing in the minions' path with no other target also draws them. Watch for the aggro icon above a minion's health bar.
- Choose the bush before you trade
Look at where the nearest lane bush is and stand so that it is a step or two away from your trade position. If the bush is too far, the minions will have time to hit you on the way.
- Hit, then move
Land your auto-attack or ability, then right-click into the bush as soon as the attack has dealt its damage. Do not stand and take the minion volley while you decide. The first move should already be in your head.
- Wait for the icon to drop
Stay inside the bush until the minions stop targeting you. The aggro icon vanishing is your cue, and the minions turning back to their lane tells you the same. Do not attack from inside the bush while you wait, since that reveals a 300 unit circle around you for 2 seconds.
- Trade again or leave
Once the minions have dropped aggro you can step out and trade again, then repeat. Each cycle costs you only the champion's return damage, not the minion hits. If the enemy has already taken a bad trade, leave.
- Check for vision first
A bush only hides you if no ward or enemy champion is seeing into it. If the enemy has placed a ward in the bush, or their jungler is nearby, the reset will not work and you may walk into a punish.
Watch it
What to watch for: Watch how minions choose a target and when they drop it, since that is the rule a bush reset relies on.

Common mistakes
- You step into the bush too late. The minions have already taken two or three hits on you. Move the moment your attack lands.
- You attack from the bush and reveal yourself. A targeted attack or ability shows a circle around you for 2 seconds, so the minions can see you again. Wait for the aggro to drop.
- You use a bush the enemy has warded. They see you and the reset fails. Check for a ward or an enemy champion first.
- You go so far for the bush that you lose the last hit. Your position matters more than one trade. Pick a bush close enough to keep farming.
- You expect the aggro to drop instantly. Minions only re-check now and then, so give it a moment.
Practice drill
- In a custom game against a bot with minions on, stand near a lane bush, hit the bot, and step in. Watch the aggro icon above the minions and count how long it takes to drop.
- Repeat with a champion that has a short trade combo. Success is landing the trade and leaving with no minion damage.
