A cheater recall is a first back timed so that your early waves crash into the enemy turret and you leave lane while they do. You return with full health and mana and a bought item component, and you have not lost any farm to do it.

What it is

A normal first back costs you minions: you walk away and the enemy wave reaches your turret unfarmed. A cheater recall avoids that by building a stack in the first few waves and recalling just as it crashes. The turret spends its time on your minions, the enemy laner either clears them or loses them, and you are already on your way to the shop.

The timing is wave-based, not clock-based. Since patch 26.01 the first wave spawns at 0:30 instead of 1:05, and the first siege minion comes with the third wave, which spawns at 1:30. Older guides quote clock times from the old schedule, so count waves instead. In practice the crash you want is the one built from the first two or three waves, ending with the siege wave under the enemy turret.

It is a tempo play, so it has costs. You spend early mana and health to push, and you are away while the enemy may be free to act. Check the timing in a custom game and treat any exact clock time as a starting point.

How to do it

  1. Count waves, not seconds

Waves spawn every 30 seconds from 0:30, and the third wave carries the first siege minion. Use the wave number as your clock.

  2. Win the first clashes to build the stack

Use your abilities and auto-attacks on the enemy minions so that your waves kill theirs and your surviving minions merge with the next wave. Do not trade with the enemy champion in the middle of a clash if that costs health you need for the walk back.

  3. Let the siege wave lead the crash

Turrets target siege minions first, then melee, then casters. Push so the third wave arrives with its siege minion under the enemy turret while the earlier minions are still alive. A stack that includes the siege minion soaks the most turret attention.

  4. Press B when the crash starts, out of sight

Recall with the default B key once the front of your stack is attacking the turret. Do it where the enemy cannot see or reach you, because damage interrupts the channel. You can have the shop open while the channel runs, so buy the moment you land.

  5. Shop with a plan

Decide the purchase before you leave: a component that suits your next fight and a refillable or potion for sustain. The aim is a visible power gap when you return, not a full shopping trip.

  6. Return before the next wave arrives

Walk back so you reach lane as the enemy's next wave meets yours, with full health and mana. If their minions arrive at your turret before you do, you have lost the farm you meant to protect.

Watch it

What to watch for: Watch which wave the first recall is timed on and how the lane looks when the player leaves.

Common mistakes

  • You recall before the stack reaches the turret. A small wave with no crash gives the enemy a free wave, so wait until the front is under the turret.
  • You recall in the open. The channel is cancelled by damage, so the enemy laner or jungler can walk up and cancel it. Use a bush or recall behind your minions out of range.
  • You trust an old clock time. The first wave moved from 1:05 to 0:30, so any guide written before patch 26.01 is off by roughly half a minute. Count waves.
  • You spend too much health or mana pushing. Arriving at the shop low and then walking back low defeats the point. Push with minion-clearing abilities, not trades.
  • You do it with no vision. A crash leaves you away from lane, and a jungler who spots the recall can punish your absence. Check the river and your teammates' wards first.

Practice drill

  • In a custom game against a bot, repeat the first three waves and recall as the siege wave reaches the turret. Note the wave count and the clock time you recalled at, and check how many enemy minions reached your side before you returned.
  • Run it again but vary the push: first with abilities only, then with last hits. Success is returning to lane with an item component and no unfarmed enemy minions at your turret.
