Leona

Computed from 255,762 ranked Solo/Duo games collected through the Riot API · patch 26.21.
| Role | Win Rate | Pick Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Support | 52.3% | 9.6% |
Leona is banned in about 13.1% of games at this tier, one figure for the whole champion since bans happen before roles are picked. What ban rate measures.
Leona's Support win rate is 2.3 percentage points above an even 50% — Should I Dodge's win-probability model varies by about 4.8 percentage points of standard deviation from lobby to lobby across all ranks, purely from which champions get drawn, so this gap is smaller than that noise, not solid evidence the champion is unusually strong or weak right now.
Leona is tracked in exactly one role at this tier scope, Support — so there's no ambiguity below about which lane the rest of this page's per-tier, threat, and counters reporting describes.

Our Read on Leona
Reading the Numbers
Starting fights is the one core job of a Leona support, and her numbers mostly reflect how well a lane partner and the rest of the team follow that start. She is a melee vanguard who deals little damage by herself, so her usefulness lies in the lockdown she creates. Her passive makes that cooperative: abilities that hit an enemy mark them, and an ally's damaging hit on a marked target consumes the mark for extra damage. A Leona paired with a teammate who attacks the instant she lands crowd control will look far better than the same player paired with a passive partner.
When a Teammate Locks Leona
Pair this pick with damage dealers who commit when she engages. Shield of Daybreak empowers her next basic attack to stun, so she needs to be in melee reach, while Zenith Blade dashes her to the last champion it strikes and roots them briefly. In lane, ask your carry to stay close instead of farming far behind, because her all-in fails if nobody follows it up. Her Sunlight marks pay off most when teammates attack right after she lands something, so give her a clear signal about when you plan to go.
When the Enemy Has Leona
Almost everything Leona does needs to connect with you, so give her little to work with. Zenith Blade has to hit a champion before she dashes, so side-step it instead of standing in a line, and her stun arrives with a basic attack, which means she must get close enough to swing. Solar Flare lands after a short wait, then slows everyone in the circle and stuns only those near its center, so leave the area when you see it start. Fight in a loose formation, because one engage on a clump hands her whole team the opening.
